It's the only place around to get a great steak and exceptional service. Well worth the trip out of town.

I heard that Rod and Holly might have sold the Bunkhouse? Holly had previously mentioned if they ever sold the place - I would have the opportunity to get back the elk head located above the front entrance door on the inside Reason is - my late husband shot the elk and had it mounted. When we moved we did not have room for it and Holly’s dad (Bob Becksted) kept it for us. Any chance/options for it to come home? Thanks in advance for considering. Dawn 970-750-8368

The Bunkhouse offers a fun atmosphere, decent food and good live country music. It would be a great stop for anyone visiting the area, but be prepared to drive about 20 minutes out of town.

    Great food drinks and atmosphere.

  • *****

The environment was country friendly to all. We had our lunch on the patio deck. The bourbon and coke was a nice balance. Strong but not fire breathing. I had the blt with 50/50 fries and onion rings. Perfectly cooked. Fast friendly welcoming. Stop by. This one.

Great atmosphere. Our waitress was fantastic. Filled to capacity and still received really good ribeye and even better service. If you're in a hurry probably not the place for you but if you have time to relax and enjoy some live music its perfect

Awesome place, tasty food, great service

  • *****

Great place to get away just far enough out of Cheyenne to get a ride on the motorcycle to have a burger and a cold one

We are a family of five, we showed up an hour and a half before closing time on a Sunday night with the parking lot packed. We were seated immediately followed by our drink order taken. The food came out quick, hot, & fresh. Our servers name was Sonya, she was the sweetest lady, very professional, & came to check on us every few minutes. The atmosphere was also amazing, my kids enjoyed their dinner and all the things to look at while they ate. If you’re ever in Cheyenne and don’t mind a 20 minute drive out the way to enjoy quality food and service definitely go check this place out.

  • *****

There were 10 of us who rode up from Colorado. We were told about Buckhouse Bar and Grill from a fellow rider from the area. When we arrived we were seated immediately and had excellent service! The food was delicious and it was served at the same time and no one was forgotten! We will definitely make it one of our destinations! Strongly recommend!!

  • *****

Nice atmosphere and good service. The food was good. It is a little out of the way from Cheyenne but worth the drive.

  • *****

Such an amazing place. It's beautiful inside and outside. Fresh cut fries... so delicious. Everything was very fresh and clean. Great place outside of town. Beautiful sunsets in the evening. Enjoy!

  • *****

Great place to grab a beer and/or have a meal. Their lunch menu was great and the Chicken Fried steak was excellent! Fine little Wyoming Gem!

  • *****

It is a nice place, awesome ambiance. The western decor is beautiful and the staff is nice. However I was upset we had to wait a whole hour for three burgers and a salad! Service was extremely slow and the place wasn't packed. The food is okay, a little more on the higher prices. Overall it's a nice place but I don't know if I'd be back.

  • *****

We stopped in for lunch and it was great! I had the grilled chicken salad. Chicken was fresh and flavorful. My husband had the Reuben and loved it! Love the atmosphere!

  • *****

Excellent food, service, live music, and friendly staff. I ordered my bunkhouse burger medium rare and it came out PERFECT!! It was really amazing food! Definitely recommend.

  • *****

Food was tasty and very generous portions! Eclectic decor and the live band was a great bonus and provided a great soundtrack to our delicious dinner!

  • *****

Hands down the best establishment left in America. The food is amazing! The band was great, and the service felt like I was at grandma's house! Worth the drive from anywhere.

My girlfriend Maggi and I were going to spend the night in Cheyenne WY. I'm always looking for an out of the box place for a beer. About 16 miles outside of Cheyenne is the Place I chose for a cocktail and we were not disappointed. The Bunkhouse Bar and Grill is filled with Western Memorabilia and lots of Stuff Animals of all types even an Elvis but I think he was carved out of wood. If you're ever looking for a place to feel welcome it's right here. I Love This Place

  • *****

A road trip was needed to partake in the reopening of WY restaurants and this was the best choice! The bloody mary is awesome (a double is recommended). The food is something to behold between the lunch and dinner menus with choices that'll cause you pause as you are deciding. The staff here is awesome and some of the best in the biz while working in a true awesome cowboy place for grub.

  • *****

Staff was so, so friendly. And I thoroughly enjoyed the food!

  • *****

The prime rib was fantastic. Friend got the filet and it was huge. Prices really reasonable for the quality. Busy place that only takes reservations for large groups. They have live music in the evenings.

  • *****

We had a group of 45 on Valentine's Day. We had 3 dinner choices. The chef even came out to check on a couple of special orders. Our meals were very nice and they got us served as fast as they could. We all enjoyed out visit very much.

  • *****

I WILL be back for more on this great menu! I had the Patty Melt and it was fantastic! I almost got the Prime Rib sandwich. I'm going back for that sandwich and the Prime Rib dinner. I can't wait! Great place and a little spendy but it was definitely worth it!

  • *****

The owners are wonderful and let us know we’re welcome and glad to have us every time we’re there. We’ve also had great conversation with a lot of patrons, everyone has been very friendly. The food and drinks have been nothing short of excellent experiences.

  • *****

The food and decore was perfect. Great 'out west' cowboy feel to the place. Bar staff friendly. Food tasty. I've been there 3 times and will go again.

  • *****

It was extremely hospitable with people calling you "dear" and "hon". The food was good for what I had and the music was definitely a stable of the place. It's a place you would go to swing dance.

  • *****

Visiting from alaska and this was the best experience I have had in a long time! The live music was amazing! I got to dance and have a great time! The food was delicious and the server was on point! I will be coming back for more fun!!

  • *****

The Bunkhouse is fabulous! My mama had her wedding reception here and not only was the food fabulous but the staff phenomenal! Our main server, Delaney(?), holy cow. Talk about the most talented server ever! She literally got every single person's name. Every. Single. Person. That is a lot of people! She was so fun, was on top of everything, speedy, and talk about her multi-tasking. She also helped with the set up of the room and just made sure she was there for me for anything I needed. There was another server helping her (i'm so sorry I forgot her name), but she was fabulous too. There was a live band playing as well and the overall vibe was just relaxed and fabulous. Great food, well done drinks. The Bunkhouse is excellent!

  • *****

    We love this place!

  • *****

    Best pulled pork

  • *****

Chicken fried steak was one of the best I've had with excellent cream gravy. My wife's hamburger had great beef char flavor. A couple of blue moons and some great tunes from the band was a great way to end a day of hiking.

  • *****

This is one of our favorite places to eat. I had the Bunkhouse Bar chef salad and my wife had the Beef Wellington. Both a very good. The Bunkhouse Bar Band played some great music. The staff are always friendly.

  • *****

Been coming here a long time and it always has great food and service. Also has live music and dancing on weekends. Cool trophy mounts on the walls and unique decor all around. Does have a room in the back for parties or private events.

  • *****

    BEST PLACE ON EARTH!!!

  • *****

Great atmosphere. The food was abundant and reasonable prices. I'd recommend you go experience this restaurant. ?

  • *****

Great place to go and catch up with friends and family and enjoy a great meal. Their Prime is amazing but get there early because it can sell out fast. They have a nice dance floor and the fact that there is live music to dance to is great. The only complaint I have is that sometimes the music is so loud that it is hard to have a conversation while they are playing. The part I like best is that this place is now smoke free so it is easier to enjoy an evening while being able to breathe.

  • *****

The food was very good! Five of us had chicken fried steak, some with white gravy some with brown gravy, all was very tasty. One had a prime rib, he said it was good but not the best he has had. Baked potatoes and mashed potatoes were great.
    The desserts were yummy.
If you are in the Cheyenne area, it is worth stopping in for a good meal and very, very friendly staff. Makes you smile

  • *****

What a kick! Great food, awesome music,
Good drinks and fantastic staff. Real live country bar and country singing.
Old to young dancing and kicking up a storm.

  • *****

Great place. Good food. Good beers. Good service. Great clientele. Lots of stories from lots of interesting people. Deck is dog friendly.

  • *****

Stopped here with 2 friends while on vacation and it was fantastic! Service was great, food was prepared quickly and came out hot, and it the environment contains real western knickknacks that make you feel like it's the wild west. Located in a scenic part of Cheyenne

  • *****

I would like to say that any of the reviews that talk about toxic or bad owners within the past 8 months-ish, the original owners have returned. Chance and Jennifer are no longer the owners and I am sorry if anybody had a bad experience with Chance and Jennifer. The food is wonderful, the atmosphere is astounding, and the service is amazing and very welcoming. They have a band that plays there and they are also amazing, totally would suggest going especially if you had a bad experience with the past owners. ?

  • *****

A great place in the middle of know where. Sit down relax and enjoy the western decorations. This is a casual place with large portions and good chicken fried steak.

  • *****

We loved it! Great food and atmosphere, well worth the drive from Wellington, Colorado.

  • *****

I stopped in here during my cross country bicycle tour while I was writing from Laramie to Cheyenne Wyoming. I stopped here mainly because I thought it was about to rain and storm really bad and I thought I would take cover at a business that had food. I was so fortunate. First of all the service was incredible. My waitress was very nice and hospitable. Very polite and ask me about I stopped in here during my cross-country bicycle tour while I was riding from Laramie to Cheyenne Wyoming. First of all of the service was incredible. My waitress was very nice and hospitable. Very polite. I had the BLT with fries and for a simple sandwich and I thought it was very delicious. Love. This. Place

  • *****

Great meal, great service, really unique atmosphere, the band was very good...sorry we didn't get to hear Molly sing...next time. We will definitely be back

  • *****

Sonia at the bar is the best! She has a warm smile the entire time you're there, so sweet and helpful and all the girls behind the bar seem to really love their job. Good atmosphere and never had a bad meal!!! Meat will be on the rare side (which I like) but just order more well than you usually would

  • *****

We took my mom out for dinner at the bunkhouse. The food was absolutely amazing. My husband had a steak that Chance, the owner, cooked to perfection. My mom and I had the chicken fried steak and it was the best I ever had. The homemade strawberry and rhubarb pie was absolutely delicious. The waitress was so attentive, also. This restaurant is definitely a go to for anyone wanting a great meal. If nothing else take a drive and have some pie.

  • *****

They did a great job hosting my daughter’s graduation from University of Wyoming celebration. We were hoping to be outside but weather did not cooperate. Staff made sure we had plenty of tables. It was confusing but staff was great. Food was good too

  • *****

I always enjoy stopping here for dinner. One of my favorite times here was during Christmas time and the local musicians were sitting in a circle on the dance floor strumming and singing Christmas and old country songs absolutely beautiful!

  • *****

    Great place!

  • *****

Worth the drive. Steak was perfect. Ham and Bean soup was the best that I have ever had.

  • *****

Was in Cheyenne to honor the passing of my best friends father, so with heavy hearts we decided that the Bunkhouse would be our choice for a big family dinner. The Bunkhouse is exactly what you would expect one to look like, with its log cabin coziness and country motif throughout. what I did not expect was the quality of the food. I started with the clam chowder which turned out to be one of the best versions I have ever tasted. I then followed it up with the quintessential country favorite chicken fried steak, which was superb. Others in my group went with the prime rib which also was amazing. Overall the bunkhouse was the perfect place to honor a memory while listening to great live country music and eating amazing food. The prices were really good for what you got and the service was absolutely amazing. I can't wait till CFD this year so I can go back for more, Aloha

  • *****

    I have not been there

  • *****

Music & atmosphere was so enjoyable. Food was so tasty and waitress was attentive.

  • *****

Best Cowboy bar I have ever visited. Great steaks, cold beer & Western atmosphere. The band was a true country band & took all requests without exception. Amazing service.

  • *****

Great food, rustic Lodge type setting just outside Cheyenne City limits. This is a great place to eat and get away from it all. They have a live band performing Fri and Sat nights, and for anyone it might effect - they recently became a non- smoking establishment. This is a true Wyoming establishment - go! You won't regret it!

  • *****

This is one of my favorite places to eat and relax. Sorry Rod and Holly are no longer the owners but so far the new management has continued what they built.

  • *****

Folks are awesome the food is great not to mention the Rocky Mountain oysters a must try, the weekend specials are all ways very tasty you can't miss Friday night and Saturday night dancing the band is incredible good old country easy dancing then not to mention the pickers Circle that starts at 1:30 on a Sunday enjoy

  • *****

Great hidden little gem tucked between Curt Gowdy and Cheyenne. Stop in for great food and a beer.

  • *****

Love the bunk house my sweetie likes to smoke but now they are non smoking The steak sandwich is always good nice to see real Cowboys and ranchers Love Wyoming

  • *****

Great atmosphere, great food (French dip is bomb and the Rocky mountain oysters were on ****ing point!) , strong drinks and most people would probably like that they no longer allow smoking inside. I was bummed because it was cold as balls out, but hey, the place doesn't stink now.

  • *****

My husband and I were out for a Sunday drive when we came upon the Bunkhouse looked like fun and it was we ended up meeting the owner a real handsome man. That was full of knowledge of the area places to see and what not. Ended up having the best lunch we have had in a long time and the price was more than fair. There was a nice soft country band that sounded so good we didnt want to leave. Great place just to hang your hat put your feet up enjoy a great meal with good company real throw back in time we LOVED IT and are planning our next trip!!!!!

We have visited here a few times and I am cross-posting a few thoughts that I posted to my Yelp account about 3-4 years ago.

Trying to decide where my wife and I wanted to go on a date and after reading some of the reviews, I was a little skeptical, but having lived in West Africa, I knew the food had to be better than that. It is about 12 miles west of Cheyenne on Happy Jack Rd. as you head towards Curt Gowdy State Park. On the outside, the restaurant is definitely a rustic feel as is the inside. In a phrase, definitely down-home western style.

Our waitress was very friendly and gave us some recommendations. She was not pushy but answered our questions and gave rave reviews for the Beef Wellington which we asked about. Now, I have not eaten Beef Wellington since a little pub back in my home country of England. The salad was crisp and plentiful. The baked potato was melt in your mouth and even the salt-encrusted skin was full of flavor and easy to chew. The Beef Wellington was not quite what I expected in that it was succulent pieces of beef with mushrooms, onions, and gravy in a puff pastry. Except for the cowboy hats, cowboy boots, and the country and western music (which was not too loud), I thought I was back in England. It was phenomenal.

We finished up with a piece of coconut cream and chocolate silk pie. They were as good as the meal itself. Nothing was overdone, and there was enough to bring home some leftovers. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. I expect this will be a regular treat on date nights.

As for the prices, it was better than expected but higher than an established food chain like Texas Roadhouse or Outback. However, the ambience is much better and well worth the drive and the price difference.

Would definitely recommend making the drive out there.

Caitlin our server was Awesome! I had the salmon filet, my son had chicken fried steak, with a side of onion rings and for dessert Strawberry Rhubarb pie a La Mode, which was all very good. The only disappointment was when I asked for Butter, they only offered margarine. Margarine is extremely bad for your health it has plastic in it. So I ate my baked potatoe dry. The entertainment was great! My son who is stationed at Warren really liked the comfy feeling he got there, we both enjoyed having dinner there. If I may make a suggestion, offer a 10% discount to our military for meals, not alcoholic beverages! Btw we are from California! God Bless the USA!

  • *****

Nice place. Rustic setting. Good food. Friendly staff.

  • *****

Best restaurant in the Cheyenne area and the owners are fantastic people! Great food, great service and fantastic Country Music!

  • *****

We had the bunkhouse burger, I was asked how I wanted it cooked. Oh wow ok medium, would i like bacon well yes. What kind of cheese pepper jack, how about onion rings. Oh my goodness what a good meal.

  • *****

we were there last fall an really enjoyed it. we plan to go to Denver next year an will make a special trip just to go to the restaurant . only visit if you like a real western setting

  • *****

Worth the drive. I enjoyed a Bunkhouse club and Chocolate cream pie. My partner in crime also enjoyed the Bunkhouse club and Kaloolah Chocolate layered cake. So yummy.. price is right with excellent service, stick around on Friday and Saturday nights to enjoy the live band!

  • *****

This place is a hidden gem. Local music on some nights and great atmosphere. The only reason I’ve knocked it a star is my order has come out wrong both times I’ve visited. Not the end of the world as the food is usually good but it be nice to get an order right occasionally. But, small town feel and good food nonetheless should warrant a visit from anyone!

  • *****

The waitress was so sweet. The burger was the best I've had in cheyenne. Food came out fast and perfect! Worth the drive!

  • *****

Worth the trip out of the way. Very nice folks. Food was very good. The steak was extremely tender, and perfectly cooked.

  • *****

Went on a late Sunday afternoon. Easy drive from the motel off I 25. There was a horse tied up at-the entrance ridden by a cowboy who lived across the road. There were pickers sitting around a table playing country songs. I had the special that night, dry rubbed ribs, smoked for hours. One of the best spare ribs I have had. The beans served with them were a mix of several bean types with bacon and a nice spicy kick. This place has great reviews in trip advisor and that's why we tried it. If you are in the area, go there.

  • *****

Great Food! Great Service! Great drinks! Fun atmosphere, very comfortable, and very reasonably priced. You won't regret the stop.

  • *****

We found this place because it had excellent reviews. We'd be there about 15 minutes when the band struck up, and it's reminiscent of days past with Golden hour country music. The steaks were quite good and the atmosphere was to die for. After all, where else could you find both front door horse parking AND four wheelers parked in the front?

  • *****

The Service is excellent and friendly!

The brown gravy is so good I wanted to drink it. I recommend the Salisbury steak and I usually never like Salisbury steak.

In the summer the deck is very peaceful.

  • *****

Best place to get a great hamburger.

  • *****

For long-distance travelers, detouring on Wyoming 210 from Interstate 80 is a welcome change. Average to excellent food; somewhat expensive. Distracted and lackadasical waitress.

  • *****

What a great place n Rod is such a nice guy who makes sure everyone is taken care of and having fun. Food was awesome and the beer was cold.

  • *****

Great food and great service. It was Tues and they had a live band playing while we were there. We had kids so we were in another room because it was very loud where band was playing. They were great. We had the blackened prime ribs. Very tasty and tender. Spicy but good. We also had the loaded baked pot and very good. We had the calf fries and poppers and they were good but calf fries could have used a little bit more seasoning. Portions of app were generous. Def go again!!

  • *****

It is just average. I had the rib eye steak and it should melt in your mouth, but was tough. The salad was warm and had brown leaves. Rod the owner just stopped at the table to see hlid we were happy with our meal. I told him what I thought and he was eager to make it right. Good man!

  • *****

The bunkhouse bar and grill is a nice place w an old west frontier atmosphere. They still have hitching posts to tie the horses to while you come in eat drink and enjoy live music during frontier days. Was gonna take some pictures and they have all areas posted. Really like to visit the bunkhouse bar and grill. Highly recommended to out of town right looking for live entertainment, great food, and an ice cold brew. Not far from Crystal lake.

  • *****

If I am around Cheyenne this place is a must! The staff is always very welcoming and friendly. The food is always good, last time I was there (1 week ago) We got an order of the Mountain Oysters, I got the pork chops, 2 people got the chicken fried steak, and 1 got the spaghetti. We all left satisfied. If you want to eat outside there is a beautiful view, but there is plenty to look at inside as well. very down home country feel to it.

  • *****

We have been told several times that we needed to try out this place. Wow, everyone was right. We had a combo appetizer with the absolute best chicken wings ever! My husband had a steak that was mouth watering tender and I had the patty melt. Huge servings. Our wait person Delaney was fantastic. She was friendly, prompt and so very courteous. We will definitely be back!!

  • *****

Great unique place! Totally worth the drive. Great big menu. Friendly good service!

  • *****

The best bacon cheeseburger!! Fun environment..live music. Good time always!

  • *****

Great meal. The menu was a little small but the food is great! Well worth the drive out there.

  • *****

I love this place and wished I visited more often when I lived in Cheyenne. A cool place on the outskirts of Cheyenne to have a good drink and some really good food!! There are live bands depending on the day and I love that western decor and atmosphere. A definite must try if you are in the area.

  • *****

Quality Steaks. It's not just regular old beef. The sirloin I had very tender. The prime rib was exceptional. Service was very attentive and friendly . Country atmosphere , very log cabin feel. Loved it.

  • *****

A homey, welcoming place! Pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff (“Rose”), great service and great food. We ordered a few appetizers, including the Rocky Mountain oysters. Interesting to try for the first time, I would order again! Prime rib was ordered medium rare and was seasoned wonderfully and cooked perfectly. Jam sessions on Sunday about 1. Great atmosphere for the whole family!

  • *****

Came here on a business trip and wanted to check out some local flavor. It was awesome! Good food, good people, good music. What more could you ask for?

  • *****

Best food in Wyoming. Hello Rob ?????

  • *****

Best hamburger and onion rings in Cheyenne! Well worth the drive!

  • *****

Should get 4 stars. My girlfriend and I tried this steakhouse again about 4 weeks ago. She was hearing nothing but good reports, so we went back. Sunday is definitely the night to go. Food was great. Lots of fun AND music. Glad we tried it again. 4 stars!! For sure.

  • *****

Best place out of town. Exceptional service. Great food. Good times. The Bunkhouse has it all. Oh, and the bar is nothing short of fantastic with a crowd that is always entertaining. Like live bands? This is your place, especially on the weekends. Fun environment and the decor is something everyone will love and remember. The owners are fantastic and the staff is amazing. They treat you like family as soon as you walk through the doors. We love this place. Definitely one of our favorite restaurants and has become one of our go-tos, especially for for to-gos. Speaking of which, call ahead and order. Quick turn around time and food is still steamy by the time you get it home. This place is truly worth the trip. Second-to-none!

  • *****

Totally worth the trip 15 minutes west of Cheyenne. Basic menu with a few specials: Rocky Mountain oysters, country fried steak, prime rib. The classic BLT was wonderful. Chef salad, apps and cordon bleu sandwich was tasty. Dead animals all over walls. Fun country music even during the day. Classic high desert cowboy meets the mountain west.

  • *****

we had so much fun here, ate drank and danced, and had a great rib eye steak. 15 miles out in the middle of nowhere, sure we were lost but there it is, lotsa cars in front. Ya gotta see this place. Service was great from beginning to the end and the country band was the best. Loved it all.

  • *****

Incredible Buffalo Brat and open faced prime rib sandwich. Our server MIchelle was great. Live music and Classic car show. It doesn't get any better

  • *****

The food was amazing at this out in the middle of nowhere Place. Prime rib was excellent and make sure you save room for the brownie tower. Staff was very friendly and efficient. Highly recommend this place. It's worth the drive in from Cheyenne.

  • *****

Great fish and chips under $10. Prompt cordial service from our waitress. Definitely recommend visiting this place for a try. Steaks looked to b priced at $30.

  • *****

My husband and I really enjoyed our stop at Bunkhouse Bar. As soon as we sat down, we connected with Sanja. She was a lot of fun to chat with. We also met one of the owners, Rod, who was friendly and funny. A beautiful drive, lots of WY charm and a welcoming atmosphere. My husband has declared this is all-time favorite bar. We are excited to get back!

  • *****

This place is awesome. We took my nephew out fr his birthday and to quote him, "That was the best freakin' prime rib I have ever had". The servers were great! And, considering that it was the first Saturday of Frontier Days, we had reservations and were seated right when we got there. If you could rate higher than 5 stars I would do it. Thanks for a great experience!

  • *****

Super cool WY bar in a pretty setting out on the prairie, the beer is always cold and the food is outstanding! Prime rib and prime rib sandwich are both great! Some of the best rocky mountain oysters I have ever had! The service is always great and the people are friendly!

  • *****

Another great meal at The Bunkhouse! The owner Rodney and his wife always make my friends and I feel welcome. This is a great spot for all walks of life. Great scenic road for motorcycles, hot rods and here the kicker- they have live music on the weekends. The prices are less then you'll pay in town. They have a full bar and great food. Service is top notch and the wait staff is personable and prompt. Best spot in Albany and Cheyenne county for food and drinks!

  • *****

Excellent...Great food and excellent atmosphere, Plus friendly service. I'll be back,,,

  • *****

    Great food, people, and atmosphere.

We had an INCREDIBLE experience at the Bunkhouse. A group of us drove up from Colorado Springs/Boulder on a reference from one gal's brother to enjoy the band and dancing on a Friday night. The band was phenomenal and even asked us which songs we wanted them to play! The band and bar staff were so friendly. After I did the cowboy cha-cha alone on the dance floor a lady who lives nearby came up to me and bought me a drink. The bar owners, Rod and Hollie were amazing and we loved hearing their stories. We received hospitality second to none!! They really took care of us and made sure we had everything we could possibly need! They were generous and SO hospitable. We were climbing Vedauwoo the next day and the bar owners let us camp out on the ranch property there and then made us breakfast even though the bar isn't open for breakfast! We will all cherish memories of the Bunkhouse and we'll be back to enjoy it another day! (And yes, we did see a guy stop by on his horse) EVERYONE SHOULD GO! :)

My wife and I were traveling through Cheyenne and decided to drive out Happy Jack Road. We stopped at the Bunkhouse and had a fantastic time. Everyone there was very nice and the service was great. We will come back next time we come through the area.

I also wrote a similar one on TripAdvisor: Our waiter was funny, knew the menu like her own name, & helped us hide the "Rocky Mountain Oyster" ingredients from my cousin's kids. Funniest 30 minutes in the world after they found out what they'd eaten & enjoyed! The chicken fried steak was very tasty & we are all from Texas! Don't mean to advertise this, in case it becomes a burden, but we were really low on gas and the bartender/owner went all the way in to his barn to give us some. He wouldn't take ANY money, but we managed to sneak it to him through the staff. Very grateful. The decor is lively and fun. John Wayne & George Straight cutouts amongst giant Antlers & wester memorabilia! You'll want to take photos.

We've been meaning to stop in for a while and we finally did. Danelle was our waitress today and was top shelf. As a waitress myself, I truly appreciated the courtesy, great food and atmosphere. We'll be back!

    Great Great Experience.
Great food, we sat at the bar and really enjoyed the owners (Rod & Hollie) and barmaid (Sonja) - all made for a great experience.

Very sorry to read a couple bad reviews below - while I wont attempt to dispute the facts of those negative reviews - I am confident Rod (owner) would have taken immediate action to correct the situation - I was especially surprised about the poor service comment - doesn't sound like our great experience at all!!!

Our next trip to Cheyenne will be on a Fri or Sat night to hear their live country music.

Sit at the bar and chat with Rod or Sonja!!!

My family and I were camping down the road at Curt Gowdy SP and didn't want to travel all the way back into Cheyenne to eat so we took a chance on the restaurant. When we arrived there were other customers in front of us that were not yet seated and said the kitchen closed at 8pm. We were ready to turn around when I believe the owner said come on in! The kitchen would remain open and we were welcome to come and eat dinner. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was great!

The Bunk House Bar & Grill is a great place to eat. It is located West out of Cheyenne. They have good food. Homemade pies, great soups and a friendly atmosphere. It is real nice for the folks that live out that way they don't have to run all the way to town.

My husband decided that he wanted to have a burger so we went to The Bunkhouse. There was actually a band playing on a Thursday night, which the waitress said wasn't normal.

I had the Beef Wellington, which was really good. My husband got a hamburger. I made the better choice. Everything was made from scratch and was delicious! We will definitely be regulars.

I went with a group of 12 women. I ordered the bunkhouse steak that is a top sirloin. It was cooked perfectly and very tender. It was about 8 oz of goodness. Several of the women ordered fish and chips and indicated that their meals were good. We were in the side room but it was still very noisy and difficult to carry on a conversation. The band was typical country band. Yes, the horse was tied to the hitching rail out front. Someone said it belongs to a band member who rides it to work! I would go again!

We went here to beat the heat @ Frontier Days. Place was hella packed but there was good live music playin inside and bar service was quick.

Unfortunately, the kitchen was backlogged the entire nighty we were there and it took about two hours for us to get any food.

Prices are reasonable. The service was really good considering the chaos there. Food was decent but I'd go back here more for the nostalgia of the place then the food.

Such a awesome hidden treasure! We stumbled across the bunkhouse one evening and are so happy we did! The food was delicious! The atmosphere was great! Drinks were great! Our waiter was absolutely amazing! Totally will be back before we leave Wyoming!

    This place is a hoot!
We stumbled onto this place 4 years ago while driving across Happy Jack Road.
The food is hardy, the dancing is fun and the western ware is real.
For us out-of-towners, calling ahead for reservations is highly recommended or you get to wait while they seat the locals, or so it seemed to us.
Also, if you come during the summer months, a fly swatter might be helpful, even if you eat indoors.

We stumbled upon this place coming back to Denver from a hike and it was great! Amazing burger, great service and the atmosphere was pure wyoming. It was busy on a Saturday afternoon, so I can imagine the crowd they bring most evenings. We will definitely come back for steak, service and music next time!

Dined there on a Thursday evening. The special was prime rib and shrimp for $22 and the soup of the day was French onion. The soup was okay, but nothing special. The prime rib was cooked perfectly (medium rare), the baked potato was fine and the three breaded shrimp were huge. It's a really fun place to go. However, I'm used to Denver where there is no smoking in restaurants and bars and they didn't even ask us for a preference. Next time we will sit in non smoking for sure.

The waitress was exceptional. The special was to die for. The atmosphere gave you a nice homey feeling. What a great place. I highly recommend a stop here!

This clan descent location is a must detour when passing through Cheyenne. It has a rustic country feel to it with a friendly staff. Had the pull pork special....the texture was smooth with a great smoke taste. A bit of country and western frontier style here. Worth the stop!

Trying to decide where my wife and I wanted to go on a date and after reading some of the reviews, I was a little skeptical, but having lived in West Africa, I knew the food had to be better than that. It is about 10 miles west of Cheyenne on Happy Jack Rd. as you head towards Curt Gowdy State Park.

As for the prices, it was better than expected but higher than an established food chain like Steamboats or Texas Roadhouse. However, the ambience is much better and well worth the drive and the price difference.
